What is the difference between flat and molded dash kits?
Molded dash kits are pre formed at the factory to fit the shape and contour of your dash. The pieces arrive to you 3 dimensional, and mold around corners, sides, and edges to give a more OEM factory look. Flat dash kits are called "flat" because they arrive as flat pieces. They are flexible when warmed, and will curve to the shape of the dash, but in only one direction, and are capable of doing only the front facing surface of the dash. Both kits are applied in the same way, with adhesive backing. Molded dash kits way more expensive than flat, contains less pieces and depends on the car may not provide same beauty as flat do. We manufacture FLAT kits only.

Do these kits replace parts in my vehicle?
No. These kits are applied directly to your existing dash surface. No pieces are removed from your vehicle.

Can I do the installation myself?
Yes! Almost all of our customers do their own installations. Your dash kit is supplied with complete installation instructions and all the materials required to install your kit. Our website also has general guidelines and tips for installation. Please refer to the instructions included with your kit.

Which type of kit is easier to install, flat or molded?
Both types of kits are applied in generally the same way. Each type has a 3M adhesive backing, and adheres to the existing dash surface. Our Flat dash kit installations often require a little more time because of the greater number of pieces in the kit.

What is the difference between real and synthetic wood?
Real wood veneers are manufactured from thin sheets of genuine wood. The entire thickness is about 1/8 inch. Synthetic veneers are an embossed image that very closely resembles wood, and the thickness is the same. The synthetics are remarkably similar in appearance to real wood and most customers cannot tell the difference when real and synthetic veneers are placed side by side.

Is there an advantage to real or synthetic wood?
Both real and synthetic veneers are manufactured in the same process, and have the same lifetime warranty. Since no two trees are identical, real wood kits have a unique and classic beauty all their own. Keep in mind, however, if at a later time you add an additional kit or replace a damaged piece, matching the color of a real wood kit can be difficult. The simulation of natural wood has greatly improved in the last few years, making it difficult for most customers to tell the difference between real and synthetic veneers. This is why most auto manufacturers are now using synthetic wood veneers for OEM. Synthetics have other advantages as well. All the pieces will match in color and grain and there are no seams. Real wood can fade over time if exposed constantly to direct sunlight. Also, if you are adding additional kits or replacing pieces at a later time, synthetic veneers will match perfectly.

How do I choose from so many veneers?
First, narrow your choices by deciding if you want a wood look, metal look or Carbon Fiber look. Wood provides warmth in the vehicle, whereas metallic and carbon fiber finishes are more high-tech. If you decide on wood, determine if you want a straight-grain wood or a burled wood. If you want your dash kit to stand out and be noticed, choose a light wood for a dark interior or a dark wood for a light interior. For a kit to blend in, choose light wood with a light interior and dark wood with a dark interior. As a general rule, gray-toned or black interiors do well with red tone woods and tan interiors do well with brown and orange tone woods. Carbon fibers and metallic finishes do well with gray and black interiors.
